DISTRICT 27-3A SOFTBALL
Dilley knocked off Natalia 4-2 on April 14 in a game that effectively clinched the fourth and final playoff spot in District 27-3A last week.
The Lady Wolves went on to drop its final two games of the year, a 5-0 decision to Jourdanton and a 10-8 loss to Poth, the top two teams in the league.
Dilley will now take on Halletsville in a three-game bi-district playoff series beginning Thursday, April 28. Halletsville is ranked third in the state in the Texas Girls Coaches Association at 24-3 for the year. They were champions of District 28-3A. Games one and two will be on Thursday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. A third game, if needed, will be on Saturday, April 30, all in Kenedy.
In clinching a playoff berth, Dilley used a three-run first and added a run in the sixth to edge Natalia in their district showdown.
Junior Krystianah Prado went three for three at the plate with a run and two RBI to lead the team. Faith Aranda was also two for three with a run scored.
Aranda aided her own cause on the mound as she went six innings, allowing only two runs on 11 hits and struck out four.
