DISTRICT 30-4A
On the heels of its area playoff loss to state-ranked Corpus Christi Calallen, Pearsall saw 13 players named to the District 30-4A honor team this week.
Four PHS players earned All-District superlatives as Ebony Garza was named the district co-Most Valuable Player. Kristen Morales was the league’s Newcomer of the Year and Maddie Bradley was named Defensive Player of the Year. Freshman pitcher Caitlyn Rodriguez also earned Pitcher of the Year honors in the district.
Outfielders Janel Luna and Anisty Martinez, pitcher Destiny Sanchez and catcher Carissa Elizondo all earned first-team all-district honors.
Second baseman Brooke Gandara, outfielder Alyssa Garcia and outfielder/pitchers Sophia Garza and Layla Del Toro all earned second team honors.
Centerfielder Ceara Saenz was given honorable mention for the Lady Mavs.
Pearsall set a school record for wins this season and closed out the year with a 33-6 record overall. The team went 5-1 in league play, earning a share of the 30-4A championship. Pearsall then blasted Pleasanton 22-3, 8-1 to sweep the first round series, earning PHS its 11th bi-district championship.
