The Frio County unemployment rate dropped to three percent in April, down from 3.3 percent the previous month in the Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) jobs report.
The unemployment rate is lower than the 3.3 percent rate of the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area (MSA) and lower than the 3.7 percent rate for Texas. Frio County’s rate was fifth highest in the 13-county WDA area and 285 people are actively looking and available for work.
Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) reports April unemployment rate for the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is 3.3 percent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points over the month, from the March rate of 3.5 percent. Since April of 2021 the MSA unemployment rate dropped 2.1 percentage points from a rate of 5.4 percent.
Summarizing the not-seasonally adjusted (actual) unemployment rates for the state and the nation, the Texas not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased 0.2 points to 3.7 percent in April, from a March rate of 3.9 percent. The rate decreased in 13 of the last 15 months. The April rate is 8.4 points below the peak value of 12.1 percent recorded in April 2020. Since April 2021, the unemployment rate dropped 2.2 percentage points from a reading of 5.9 percent.
The US non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased 0.5 percentage points to 3.3 percent in April from 3.8 percent in March.
