City councilors in local governments began their terms this month after elections that saw some incumbents returned to office and some newcomers taking seats at the table. (Photo above) At Pearsall City Hall, (L-R) Councilors Sonia Hernandez, Ramiro Trevino, Racheal Garza and James Leal have been sworn into office for three years each after a city charter amendment passed to extend council terms. Hernandez and Leal have been re-elected; Trevino and Garza have been elected to seats vacated by outgoing councilors. At Cotulla City Hall (Photo below), this year’s election was canceled when no opponents filed to challenge those vying for office. (L-R) Councilor Estanislado Lopez has been elected unopposed to a seat vacated by an outgoing councilor; Mayor Javier Garcia and Councilor Eloy Trevino have been returned to office. Pearsall ISD members of the Board of Trustees were sworn in during a meeting on Wednesday, May 18. Newly elected to the board is (Left) Eulogio “Logie” Rodriguez in Place 6; Tomas “Tommy” Navarro has been re-elected to Place 5.
