Guzman
A woman suspected of being involved in a gunshot murder in Laredo has been remanded into custody after being identified at a hotel in Pearsall.
Murder suspect Ashley Renea Guzman, 27, was arrested by Frio County deputies on a warrant issued in Webb County on Tuesday, June 7.
According to deputies involved in the arrest, Guzman was staying at a hotel on the west side of Pearsall when she was recognized by officers.
“She had her car parked in the back under a tree,” Frio County Lt. Josh Longoria said earlier this week.
“But when she got out and was walking into the hotel, the deputies immediately recognized her.”
Guzman is listed by investigators as having been the driver in a recent murder in Laredo which claimed the life of 31-year-old Gerardo Nino.
According to a report on the case from the Laredo Police Department, Nino was shot in an apartment in that city on Tuesday, May 3. The following day, investigators were able to identify a 14-year-old juvenile and Gerardo Rocha, 30, as the prime suspects.
Further investigation led Laredo police to naming Guzman as the third suspect in Nino’s murder.
Guzman has been transported to Webb County to await prosecution.
