Jesus “Chuy” Alaniz DeLeon, 76, of Lorena, died on June 7, 2022. He was born on July 25, 1945 in Goldfinch, Texas to Celestino Sr. and Maria DeLeon.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Santos Gutierrez.
Chuy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Estella DeLeon, sons Christopher (Tara) and Ryan, granddaughters Anna, Elena and Bella and brother Celestino DeLeon Jr. (Estela).
He graduated from Pearsall High School in 1964 and met his wife Estella in 1971. They married on November 9, 1974 and the couple had two sons.
Chuy joined the Marine Corps in 1967, where he served in Vietnam before being honorably discharged four years later. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, Chuy attended Texas A&I University at Kingsville and later became an electrical engineer at Texas Power and Light, which later became TXU. After retirement, Chuy continued work in the electrical engineering field.
Chuy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters Anna, Elena and Bella and also enjoyed camping and keeping up with the latest news.
Funeral services were held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 13.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Grace Gardens Funeral Home and Crematorium, Waco.
