INDEPENDENCE DAY, SOUTH TEXAS STYLE!

The Independence Day holiday was marked in Frio and La Salle counties last weekend with festivals at city parks in Dilley and Cotulla that included family-oriented activities, games, food and refreshment booths, toy and trinket vendors; and a rake of popular bands with live entertainment late into the nights, Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3. Performers at the Dilley City Pavilion included Mando y La Venganza, Los Tremendos Alarcanes, Nacido, La Calma, David Farias, Los Chamacos, Vision, Ricky Naranjo y Los Gamblers, and Lucky Joe. In Cotulla, bands performing at the La Salle County Fairgrounds Pavilion included Grupo Mettal, Zenzio, the Homeboyz, Tejano Highway 281, Los Garcia Brothers, and Solido. Foods cooked at the festival grounds included local traditionals as well as burgers and fries; custom-fashioned desserts included assorted fruits and mangonadas.
