Firefighters from three departments responded to an RV fire that spread to an adjacent structure and subsequently caused a grass fire on Thursday, June 30.
The Dilley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call on Moffett Road shortly after 4:15 p.m. last Thursday after a call was made to emergency dispatch regarding the fire that was rapidly spreading.
According to a report on the case, within minutes of the RV catching fire, the recreational vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and quickly spreading.
The fire spread to a nearby motorhome, car and scorched the side of another RV.
“Due to the dry conditions and high winds, the fire quickly spread to the adjacent property,” Sgt. Adrian Ruiz said. He added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Crews from the Dilley VFD immediately requested assistance from Pearsall VFD and La Salle County Fire Rescue.
When assisting crews arrived on scene, the grass fire had spread from Moffett Road to the IH-35 access road.
