Pearsall native Mark Gonzales was recently named the new Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Pearsall.
Gonzales, a 2020 Pearsall High School graduate, began working for the city in November as a water meter technician. Within six months, Gonzales was given an opportunity by City Manager Federico Reyes, to become the code enforcement officer.
“I traveled to San Angelo for a week for training,” Gonzales said in a prepared statement. “I am blessed to say that I passed. I am ready to make a difference and assist our city to the best of my ability.”
As a municipal code enforcement officer, Gonzales will be responsible for enforcing violations of all city codes and ordinances to ensure the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of the city.
After high school, Gonzales worked at the Frio County Jail, where he earned his correctional officer license. He is also a volunteer firefighter for the city.
