La Salle County Sheriff Anthony Zertuche pinned a badge on his department’s newest officer this month in a brief courtroom ceremony to administer the oath of office to Deputy Eusebio “Chevo” Garcia, who graduated from the Southwest Texas Junior College Law Enforcement Academy at Uvalde in 2021. Garcia is a La Salle County native and graduated from Cotulla High School in 2014. He served the city of Cotulla in its utilities departments both before and after attending the police academy and has now begun full-time patrol duties with his field training officer, Cpl. Oscar Macias. The new deputy said he looks forward to serving his community for the betterment of all the residents of La Salle County. He and his wife have two children and make their home in Cotulla.
