Former San Antonio Animal Control Officer Adan Perez was recently hired by the city of Pearsall to serve in the same capacity.
The 2007 Crystal City High School graduate brings over six years of experience in animal control that include tactical animal handling, investigations and court hearing regarding animal cases.
In a prepared statement, Perez said he worked for District 1 in San Antonio and focuses on not only enforcing animal control codes but building rapport with community members.
“I have conducted and created microchip events,” the animal control officer said. “I have cleaned up District 1 significantly; fewer dogs run the street, fewer violations have been found and, being part of the community, I gained the respect of pet owners and non-pet owners.”
Perez comes with a rake of credentials that include a crisis intervention team with the SAPD, tactical animal handling with ACS, animal cruelty and fighting investigations, zoonosis control, disaster response programs, emergency shelter medicine, field sheltering and temporary shelter, dangerous investigations, rescuing animals from cruelty and disasters, large-scale animal cruelty and natural disasters, investigating and prosecuting blood sports, animal crime scene and evidence collection, veterinary forensics, emergency management with FEMA and court hearings.
“I will provide the same professional service as I did in San Antonio here in Pearsall,” Perez said.
