Maria Luisa Bernal, 72, died on July 22, 2022. She was born on March 23, 1950 to Deimiro and Ygnacia Ruiz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Gilbert Bernal, brothers Juan Ruiz, Fidel Ruiz and daughter-in-law Irene Gonzales.

Maria is survived by her husband Francisco Bernal Sr., children Francisco Bernal Jr. (Hermelinda Garza), Paulino Bernal Sr. (Manuela C. Bernal), M.J. Bernal (Marie G. Bernal) and Pedro Bernal, sisters Julia Ruiz and Margarita Ruiz. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 3 at Peters Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4 at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Cristo Rey Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.
