WOLFPACK CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL

Dilley’s Anthony Guerra keeps pace at the front of the pack during the varsity boys’ division event at the Wolfpack Invitational meet on Saturday.
Dilley played host to one of the biggest meets of the season and the Wolves took the runner-up spot in their division at Saturday’s Wolfpack Invitational Cross Country Meet at Gosch Field.
“We are very proud of our boys’ and girls’ runners for their performances at our home meet this past Saturday,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said. “We hosted the meet and had 17 teams present, making this one of Dilley’s biggest meets.”
The Wolves were second to Bandera’s state qualifying team. Anthony Guerra led the team with a fourth place finish with a time of 18:15.
Boys’ results are as follows: Xavier Hernandez, seventh, 18:29, Brazos Viesca, 11th, 19:10, Julian Cruz, 31st, 21:05, Jacob Garcia, 33rd, 21:09.
The shorthanded Lady Wolves did not place at the event. Top runner Chloe Rodriguez did not compete following an injury she suffered last week.
Girls’ results are as follows: Jewlea Tate, 28th, 15:23, Rena Ochoa, 46th, 16:36 and Madelyne Proctor, 55th, 17:10.
Junior varsity girls’ results are as follows: Klarissa Vasquez, 21st, 17:34, Janessa Mendez, 38th, 22:32, Bella Proctor, 40th, 24:53.
In junior high action, the seventh grade Wolves were meet champions. Elijah Sambrano took first overall in the division with a time of 12:48.
Seventh grade boys’ results are as follows: Isaiah Kinsey, 13th, 16:11, Eliberto Lopez, 14th, 16:25, Elliot Pichardo, 17th, 16:38, Tristan Goins, 28th, 19:00.
Additional junior high results are as follows: eighth grade boys, Josiah Benavides, ninth, 13:37, Rodrigo Cardenas, tenth, 13:39, Jevon Arriazola, 22nd, 14:35, Deven Chapa, 28th, 15:13, Abel Treviño, 29th, 15:15, Nehemiah Osio, 33rd, 16:16; eighth grade girls, Edelyn Rodriguez, sixth, 16:41, Jnessa Nickels, eighth, 17:17, Lily Ayala, tenth, 17:31; seventh grade girls, Jaelyn Rodriguez, 21st, 18:00.
Dilley will be in action this week as they compete at Bandera on Saturday, September 10.
