Bullet in a boot…
Pearsall police are asking for any information regarding a shooting that occurred Saturday, September 10, in a west-side neighborhood after a group of suspects targeted a home on Vinton Street.
Investigators say that calls were made to the Frio County emergency dispatch after witnesses reported seeing a group of youths walking down the street and then firing shots near the intersection of Brazos and Vinton streets.
Witnesses gave officers video surveillance footage from home security cameras to support their reports. The footage has been turned over to the US Secret Service for enhancement, according to the police department.
Investigating officers searched the area after the incident and discovered shell casings near a residence. A bullet was found lodged inside a boot in the trunk of a car parked at the home.
Video surveillance footage shows the group of people leaving in a car that was later seen driving back and forth on Vinton Street after police left the scene. Emergency dispatchers confirm a call was received a short time after the shooting regarding a fire in the yard of the home on Vinton Street.
According to the report, officers were able to extinguish the fire and noted a ‘dark black trail’ from the street to the corner of the home. Pearsall volunteer firefighters were called and watered down the yard.
“This is an ongoing investigation and police are seeking any tips from the community regarding this crime,” Police Captain Michael Guerrero said early Tuesday morning. “This is senseless and ultimately puts the lives of many others in danger.”
The police captain is assuring the public that all tips received will remain anonymous.
