PEARSALL LADY MAVS VOLLEYBALL
While still stuggling to find their footing this season, Pearsall’s Lady Mavs have won two of their last four matches and have split league outings, going 1-1 in district volleyball play.
Pearsall topped St. Mary’s Hall in three sets on September 6 but suffered a setback on September 9 in a loss at D’Hanis.
The Lady Mavs dropped their league opener to Floresville on Tuesday, September 13 but bounced back on Friday evening at Uvalde with a four set victory.
“The girls’ knowledge level about the game is where I would like it to be, but their performance level needs improvement,” PHS Head Volleyball Coach Erika Tellez said. “We did well on Friday, now it’s time to move up and improve throughout the rest of the season.
“The girls were able to stay confident and finish the game until they won three sets.”
Pearsall won their opening set 25-19 at Uvalde before the Lady Lobos tied it up 1-1 with a 27-25 win in the second.
In a marathon third set, Pearsall eventually pulled away for a 28-26 decision. In the fourth and final set, the Lady Mavs won another tight outing, winning 25-21 to take the contest.
Pearsall hosted Carrizo Springs Tuesday evening, September 20 and will be at Pleasanton on Friday, September 23.
