Dilley ended pre-district play with a sixth place finish at the San Antonio Saints Volleyball tournament and have opened district play this week with a league opener at Hondo Tuesday evening, September 20.
The Lady Wolves were sixth out of eight teams at the tournament and then turned around to top Freer in five sets on Friday night, September 16.
“The girls stepped onto the court showing a confidence that I hadn’t seen in them,” DHS Head Volleyball Coach Khloe Torres said. “They worked together and never let up.”
Dilley split their first two matches with Freer, winning the first set 25-15 and third 27-25. The Lady Wolves then won the fifth and deciding set 15-12 to take the win.
“Leaders Jazlyn Bradshaw, Janae Galinod, Ja’sellie Castillo, Reyna Martel, and Mia Aranda got in the huddle for the start of their fifth set,” Torres said. “They gave the pep talk we needed and came out in the fifth set with no doubt in their minds that this set was theirs, and this was their house.”
Dilley opened district play Tuesday evening, September 20 at home.
“With the help of the community and DHS staff, the girls can come out on top with a great start for their district 2022-23 season,” the coach said.
