Police, county sheriffs’ offices and emergency responders will take part in the annual celebration of National Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, at events in Pearsall, Dilley and Cotulla.
The evening events are designed to help strengthen relations between law enforcement and the public; festivities include live entertainment, games and refreshments.
Pearsall’s event is hosted by the volunteer fire department at Firemans Park behind the Frio County Courthouse; Dilley’s event is at City Hall; La Salle County’s festivities are at Veterans Park in downtown Cotulla.
Children will have opportunities to examine emergency responder vehicles and talk to officers and first responders about their jobs.
Adults will be offered resources and information on crimefighting, neighborhood watch, and communications with local officers.
A tradition of National Night Out is for residents to turn on porch lights, either white or blue for the occasion, to show support for community policing and for the law enforcement agencies who serve them.
