FAMILY, SCHOOL & COMMUNITY
Student members of the Cotulla High School ‘Los Jefes’ Chapter of the National Honor Society will gather supporters, families and friends at Myers Memorial Stadium on Friday morning, October 7, for the annual ‘Pink out’ walk and fundraiser for breast cancer research and awareness.
All community members and businesses are invited to attend and may purchase $5 admissions wristbands in advance from the high school, (830) 879-2374, by contacting CHS Counselor Marlene Costley Maldonado (ext. 2020) or Kathy Galindo-Garcia in Room D5 at the high school (ext. 2090). National Honor Society students are also offering wristbands in advance.
The breast cancer awareness walk begins at 7:45 a.m. with a rally to kick off the track circuits at the stadium. Participants will wear pink clothing, and this may include shirts, socks, shorts, pants or leggings, even tutus, according to Counselor Maldonado. Seating for spectators will be made available on the visitor side of the stadium.
The walk concludes at 9 a.m.
Among those walking the track with the students and community members will be local breast cancer survivors and those currently fighting the disease.
Admissions wristbands are sold in advance and at the gate; all students taking part must purchase their wristbands by Thursday, Oct. 6.
Public parking for the event is available by the CISD baseball and softball fields at the rear entrance to the campus.
