HERNANDEZ FINISHES SECOND OVERALL TO LEAD DILLEY TO SECOND PLACE TEAM TITLE.
Dilley’s Wolves were second overall in action at the Crystal City cross country meet on Saturday, October 1 in the final action prior to the district meet on Wednesday, October 12.
Xavier Hernandez paced the Wolves as he finished second overall at the event with a time of 18:16.
“It was great to see varsity, eighth grade and seventh grade boys place as a team,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said. “And to see a lot of our middle school kids running season bests.”
All five of Dilley’s varsity boys’ runners medaled at the event. Anthony Guerra was 12th overall with a time of 19:26 while Abraham Rodriguez was 15th at 19:35, Julian Cruz was 18th with a time of 20:15 and Jacob Garcia finished 23rd at 20:45.
Jewlea Tate competed for the Lady Wolves and was 24th overall with a time of 15:48 while Rena Ochoa also competed and timed in at 18:18.
Angel Martinez won his field in the junior varsity boys’ division, taking a first place time of 20:21. Klarissa Vasquez was 13th for the JV girls at 17:33.
Dilley’s Pups were dominant at the event as the seventh graders took first overall and had five medalists while the eighth graders were runners-up and also had five medalists.
Junior high results are as follows: seventh grade boys, Elijah Sambrano, second, 13:00, Eliberto Lopez, tenth, 14:53, Elliot Pichardo, 12th, 15:07, Isaiah Kinsey, 13th, 15:16, Tristan Goins, 22nd, 17:18; eighth grade boys, Josiah Benavides, fifth, 13:12, Rodrigo Cardenas, seventh, 13:21, Abel Treviño, 22nd, 14:31, Nehemiah Osio, 24th, 14:31, Jevon Arriazola, 28th, 14:53, Eddie Torres, 30th, 15:03; eighth grade girls, Edelyn Rodriguez, ninth, 15:45, Jnessa Nickels, 12th, 15:53, Lily Ayala, 20th, 16:54.
The District 27-3A meet is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, once again, in Crystal City.
