COTULLA COWGIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Cotulla remains in third place in the district volleyball standings after splitting league outings last week with Dilley and Crystal City.
In action on Tuesday evening, October 4, the Cowgirls topped the rival Lady Wolves in four games, winning 26-24, 21-25, 25-11, 25-19.
Cotulla then fell to Crystal City in four games on past Friday, October 7. The Lady Javelinas won by scores of 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21.
“We’re about to start the second round of district games, but there are no guarantees on playoff spots,” CHS Head Volleyball Coach Christina Few said. “Every team in our district has pulled an upset over another team, so it is really anyone’s game.
“We just need to take it game by game, and fight if we want to secure a playoff spot.”
Hondo sits atop the standings while Crystal City is currently in second place. Cotulla is 16-16 for the season and 3-2 in district.
The Cowgirls hosted Natalia on Tuesday evening to open the second round of league play. The team will host Lytle this Friday.
