DILLEY LADY WOLVES VOLLEYBALL
Dilley snapped a six-game losing streak in district volleyball play, knocking off rival Cotulla in four sets on Friday, October 21.
The Lady Wolves sit fifth in the standings with a game remaining against Natalia and have been eliminated from the postseason.
Since splitting league games to open district play, the Lady Wolves dropped six straight before knocked off the rival Cowgirls last Friday.
Dilley was 1-1 in district after knocking off Natalia following a loss to eventual district champion Hondo. The team then lost six in a row to tumble in the standings.
Hondo swept the Lady Wolves in three sets, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-15 on October 11.
Dilley then fell to Crystal City on October 14 in a tight affair, losing 3-1. The Lady Javelinas earned the win with scores of 11-25, 30-28, 25-13, 25-18.
The Lady Wolves were then swept by Lytle before bouncing back to upset Cotulla in four sets. Dilley dropped the first set but came back to win the last three and take the victory.
Hondo stood atop the district standings at 8-1 with a game remaining while Crystal City was second at 6-3. Lytle was third at 5-4 in league play while Cotulla held on to claim the fourth and final playoff spot with a 3-5 record.
Dilley and Natalia were fifth and sixth in the standings and faced off Tuesday evening.
