Deep-Dish Cheddar Chicken
From: A Taste of Heaven, Recipes from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cotulla, 2003
This is one of those recipes that I saw the title for and got very excited but read the ingredients of and lost my enthusiasm. I really don’t like broccoli. The good news is, broccoli can be left out, and other items can be subbed in. This is the perfect dish to add bacon and peppers to. And never be afraid to sprinkle on extra cheese.

Deep-Dish Cheddar Chicken
As provided by Joyce Moore
1 whole chicken, cooked and diced
1 pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
1/2 stick (1/4 c.) butter, softened
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. sage
1/4 c. flour
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1 can crescent rolls
Melt butter and onion in large saucepan over medium heat until onion is clear. Add sage, flour, and milk to make a thick gravy. Remove from heat. Add chicken, cheese, and broccoli.
Mix all ingredients together and season with 1/2 teaspoon salt. Pour into casserole (13 x 9) sprayed with Pam. Arrange roll dough on top of mixture to make a crust. Bake in 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
