Representing different branches of the US armed forces, second grade students from Cotulla’s Ramirez/Burks Elementary School gave their traditional salutes and renditions of military songs during a special ceremony in the Frank Newman Middle School gymnasium on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, to honor all those who served their country in uniform. The event included addresses by NMS members of the Student Council, performances by the Cotulla High School Band, and a keynote speech by former Lt. Commander ET Page. Veterans Day events were held at schools throughout the region and by local governments, law enforcement and civic groups. Nov. 11 marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended hostilities in World War I in 1918. (For more Veterans Day coverage, see inside) (CURRENT Photo: Marc Robertson)
