14-3A, DIVISION I ALL-DISTRICT FOOTBALL
SANCHEZ NAMED OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE YEAR; MEDINA IS TOP UTILITY PLAYER

Robert Sanchez
Junior Robert Sanchez was named the District 14-3A, Division I Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year while Alex Medina was the Utility Player of the Year as members of the all-district football team were announced recently.
The two were among 15 players named to the all-district squad for Cotulla. Six players were named to the all-district first team.
Players earning first-team all-district offensive nods include senior running back Jesse Sanchez, senior wide receiver Thallan Olivarri and sophomore offensive lineman Gerry Gonzalez.
Defensively, Sanchez was named to the all-district first team at linebacker, sophomore Manuel Hernandez at defensive back and senior Daniel Avina, also at defensive back.
Sophomore running back Eric Aldaco, sophomore offensive lineman Miguel Hernandez, senior quarterback Joseph Salazar, senior linebacker Seasar Garcia, Rodrigo Mendez and senior linebacker Hilario Ayala all earned second-team accolades.
Offensive linemen Robert Ayala and Kaleb Linares were both given honorable mention.
Cotulla closes out it season with a 6-5 mark overall and were 2-3 and fourth overall in District 14-3A, Division II. The team saw a four-game improvement from last season and made the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
