Pearsall Pee Wee Organization’s Senior Mavericks capped a perfect 9-0 season with a 24-0 win over Jourdanton in the Small Town Football League Senior Division Championship on Saturday, November 26 at Mack Laxson Field in Pearsall. Quarterback Brayden Cabasos, running back Toni Ramirez and wide receiver Pete Barela accounted for the scoring. Defensively, Pearsall allowed only two first downs to the Indians as the unit was led by linebackers Bryson Cabasos, Josh Styles, Josiah Cuevas and Barela, along with defensive end Nicholas Rendon. Pearsall outscored its opponents 214 to 12 this year. “This group was one of the most coachable teams I’ve ever had,” Head Coach Jorge Cabasos said. “They listen and learn the week’s scheme like high school kids would. I’m proud to say that when this group along with the seventh graders combine in high school, Pearsall has a chance to do something that hasn’t been done before. They are that good.” Pearsall’s Junior Division Mavericks came up just short in their bid for the title as they lost a 6-0 decision to Devine for the championship. According to Cabasos, the team will return 18 players for next season. (Courtesy Photo)
