Brown Sugar Fudge Cake
I really love fudge, so when I found an old recipe that merged fudge and cake… you’d better believe I made note of it to share here!
from Tollhouse Heritage Cookbook, The Nestle Company, 1983
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 measuring teaspoon baking soda
3/4 measuring teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 measuring teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs
3 envelopes (3 ounces) Nestle Choco-bake
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bown, combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside. In a large bowl, combnine butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract; beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in Nestle Choco-bake. Add flour mixture alternatey with buttermilk. Pour batter into two greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans. Cool opletely on wire racks. Fill and front with your favorite frosting. Makes two 9-inch cake layers.
