ON THE AIRWAVES
The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Cotulla native Stephen Alvarado has been promoted to the position of emergency dispatch supervisor, following the retirement in October of Sandi Ibarra, who spent a 25-year career in service to the county. Alvarado was chosen last month out of a field of candidates after a thorough application and interview process, according to Sheriff Anthony Zertuche in a prepared statement last week, and has begun serving as the new lead in the emergency communications office. The new supervisor has experience in nearly ten years of service to La Salle County and has met all state requirements for the position, recently earning his Master Telecommunicator certification. He also holds and maintains a certification as a licensed jailer. “We congratulate Stephen on his many accomplishments thus far,” Sheriff Zertuche said, “and we know that our dispatch office will remain professional, courteous and helpful, as always.”
