COUNTY ARRESTS
Fourteen individuals were arrested in La Salle County over a two-week period at the start of December on a range of felony and misdemeanor charges as well as on warrants issued locally and in other jurisdictions.
Arrests were made by deputies of the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office and troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol.
In addition to those being housed on behalf of other authorities and those serving commitment by order of the courts (details previously published), those taken into custody between Monday, November 21, and Sunday, December 4, with arrest times logged at booking in the La Salle County Jail, were as follows:
Curtis Wayne Tippen, 49, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; arrested 7:18 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, by the Texas DPS; third-degree felony smuggling of persons (18 counts); remained in jail Monday, Dec. 5.
Jose Tomas Vazquez, 34, of Fort Worth, Texas; arrested 2:49 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, by the Sheriff’s Office; Class A misdemeanor failure to identify as a fugitive, misdemeanor public intoxication; released on bond after 14 hours.
Antonio Zarzosa, 46, of Cotulla; arrested 1:58 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, by the Sheriff’s Office; warrant issued by La Salle County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace for speeding, warrants issued by Pct. 1 JP for driving with an expired license and driving with expired registration; released on bond after nine hours.
Hector Salazar, 31, of Houston; arrested 10:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, by the Texas DPS; third-degree felony smuggling of persons (four counts), state jail felony possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2; released on bond after 17 hours.
Omar Sebastian Ibarra, 25, of Houston; arrested 10:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, by the Texas DPS; third-degree felony smuggling of persons (four counts); released on bond after 15 hours.
Xavier DeBlanc Boose, 20, of DeSoto, Texas; arrested 8:24 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, by the Sheriff’s Office; Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana; released on bond after 18 hours.
Anthony Lawrence Geffert III, 21, of New Caney, Texas; arrested 10:44 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, by the Sheriff’s Office; warrant issued in La Salle District Court for evading arrest with a vehicle; released on bond after four hours.
Francisco Lee Morales, 18, of San Antonio; arrested 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, by the Sheriff’s Office; warrants issued in La Salle District Court for smuggling of persons with likelihood of serious bodily injury or death (five counts); court-ordered release after four hours.
Jesus Rangel Jr., 41, of Laredo; arrested 4:51 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, by the Sheriff’s Office; state jail felony theft of property up to $30,000 in value; released on bond after 23 hours.
Federico F. Gonzalez, 42, of Cotulla; arrested 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, by the Sheriff’s Office; Class A misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury to a family member, Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest, Class A misdemeanor unlawful restraint; released on bond after ten hours.
Frank Espinoza Jr., 30, of San Antonio; arrested 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, by the Texas DPS; third-degree felony smuggling of persons (three counts), state jail felony evading arrest with a vehicle; released on bond after two days, four hours.
Jesus Ramirez Alvarado, 52, of Cotulla; arrested 5:47 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, by the Sheriff’s Office; third-degree felony assault on a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation; remained in jail Monday, Dec. 5.
Jonathan Ayala-Pineda, 24, of Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico; arrested 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, by the Texas DPS; misdemeanor reckless driving, state jail felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; remained in jail Monday, Dec. 5.
Julian Mojica Jr., 43, of Cotulla; arrested 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, by the Sheriff’s Office; Class A misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury to a family member, warrant issued in Kinney County for failure to appear in court on a charge of third-degree felony smuggling of persons; remained in jail Monday, Dec. 5.
