La Salle County Sheriff Anthony Zertuche administered the oaths of office and welcomed three new deputies to the law enforcement agency in the past week. Among those now serving in full-time duty as patrol deputies in the county are (Photos this page, L-R) Jaime Garcia of Zapata, sworn in on Tuesday, January 3, a December 2022 graduate of the Southwest Texas Junior College Law Enforcement Academy at Uvalde and former correctional officer with five years’ experience at the Zapata Regional Jail; and on Thursday, December 29, Eduardo Garza of Laredo, a former deputy constable at Laredo; and Juan Vitela of Laredo, a graduate of the Laredo Community College Law Enforcement Academy and former patrol officer of the Laredo Police Department. Sheriff Zertuche said all three new officers will make La Salle County their home and that he and his officers look forward to introducing them to the communities they will serve.
