FRIO COUNTY’S government officers taking their oaths to start new terms or to begin serving the county for the first time this year, celebrated with ceremonies held during the day Sunday, January 1, at the Frio County Courthouse, included (Photos this page, from left) Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Shanna Gates, returning to office; Pct. 4 JP Jack “Chip” Proctor, who takes the office formerly held by Lauro Flores, who retired from the position; Pct. 3 JP Susan Ruiz-Belding, returning to office; and Pct. 2 JP Sandra Waldrum, who takes the office formerly held by Jim Sindon, who retired from the position at the end of his term; Frio County District Clerk Ofilia Trevino, returning to office for a new term; and Frio County Clerk Aaron Ibarra, who begins a full term in office after being elected in a special election to serve the remainder of a term left by Angie Tullis, who retired after winning her last election. All of the office holders except JPs Gates and Proctor, who ran unopposed, prevailed over challengers in the primary elections for the party nomination; all were unchallenged in the general election.
