The filing period for the May 6 general election for the city of Pearsall opened last Wednesday and currently has no candidates for the four seats.
City Hall confirmed Tuesday morning that the mayoral and council seats in Places 5, 6 and 7 do not have any applicants.
An amendment to the Home Rule Charter during the May 2022 elections states that candidates will now serve a three-year term instead of a two-year term.
Currently Ben Briscoe serves as the mayor for the city; Tiffany Talamantes sits in Place 5; Lionel Gandara in Place 6; and Davina Rodriguez holds Place 7 at the council table.
The filing period is open until 5 p.m. on Friday, February 17.
