Pearsall city councilors accepted a $2 million grant from the General Land Office to use for drainage projects during a meeting on Monday, January 23.
The no-match grant funds were awarded to the city earlier this month after the Alamo Area Council of Governments developed a method of distribution for the regional mitigation program.
“This is good news,” the city manager said at the Monday meeting. “We will go through the projects and make sure they meet the requirements.”
Reyes said the grant is primarily used for drainage projects but that he hopes also to use the monies for water and sewer improvements and the purchase of generators.
