Medina Electric Cooperative will hold member nominating meetings in February at offices in the three voting districts.
Co-op members who wish to either run or nominate a fellow member to run for a position on the Medina EC Board of Directors should plan to attend the meeting for their voting district.
Meetings will be held Tuesday, Thursday, February 21-23 in Hondo, Rio Grande City and Dilley.
The District 1 meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21 in Hondo at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the MEC General Office on 2308 18th Street. District 1 consists of meters in Medina County.
The District 3 meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 22 in Rio Grande City at 6 p.m. at that location on 601 N. FM 3167. District 3 consists of meters in Dimmit, La Salle, McMullen, Webb, Duval, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Brooks and Starr counties.
The District 2 meeting will be held on Thursday, February 23 in the McKinley Room of the MEC Dilley Office in Dilley at 6 p.m. That location is on 1718 W FM 117. District 2 consists of meters in Edwards, Real, Kinney, Uvalde, Zavala, Frio and Atascosa counties.
A $50 bill credit will be raffled at each meeting for members in attendance. Members with multiple meters can attend meetings in any of the voting districts where they have a meter but may only participate in one nominating meeting per year.
MEC is run by a nine-person board of directors. Each one of MEC’s three voting districts has a position open for election each year. Elections generally take place in September and nominating meetings partly determine who is placed on that ballot. Members can also be placed on the ballot through the petition process if they decide not to attend the meeting. You can learn more about the petition process and download a petition at MedinaEC.org/Nominee.
