La Salle County Sheriff’s Deputy Rickey Galvan urges potential buyers to continue bidding for a vehicle offered in the sheriff’s auction on Friday morning, January 10, at the county’s impound yard on Main Street in Cotulla. Held at least twice a year, the public auction of seized and abandoned cars, trucks, vans, commercial vehicles and surplus county equipment helps generate funds for the sheriff’s office to buy law enforcement equipment for deputies, including communications and technology upgrades and safety gear. Last week’s auction included 23 cars, pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles and vans as well as a tractor-trailer belly-dump freight rig and generated at least $75,000 in revenues for the sheriff’s office.
