Anthony Frank (Buzzy) Anizan, 84, died at home on Thursday, February 16, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was born November 12, 1938 in Texas City, Texas to Frank & Evelyn Anizan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Pauline Anizan, stepfather Charles McFarland.
Buzzy is survived by his wife Barbara Anizan, daughter Annette Dunn (Stephen), son Glenn Anizan (Kim), daughter Kathy Slind (Brian), son Frank Anizan (Phyllis), five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, brother Michael McFarland, sisters Jeanette Blount and Jerry Sue Massa.
Anthony was known to many as “Buzzy”, a nickname his older sister gave him when he was born because she could not say brother. In 1947, when he was in the second grade he survived the Texas City Blast. He graduated from Texas City High School and then joined the Navy. He married Barbara Ann Smith of Sabinal on March 21, 1959. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Buzzy and Barbara moved to Pearsall to start a new job at the Medina Electric Power Plant. He served as a reserve deputy for Frio County and was also active in the First Baptist Church in Pearsall where, among other things, he served as a deacon. He worked for the plant for 44 years and he retired in 2006.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Services in Pearsall. Graveside services will be on Monday, February 27 at 9 a.m. at Sabinal Cemetery in Sabinal. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 27 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pearsall.
