SPRINTER CAPTURES THREE GOLD MEDALS, TWO SILVER AT ANNUAL WOLF PACK MEET

Dorian Aranda took gold in three of his four events while the Dilley relay teams were second in two of three events in capturing the team title at the Wolf Pack Relays Invitational Meet on Wednesday, March 8 at Gosch Field.
Aranda swept the 100m and 200m events and was first in the triple jump. He was second in the long jump for Dilley. The Wolves’ sprint and mile relay teams both finished second at the meet.
The Lady Wolves dominated in the field events and took second overall at the event.
Jane Galindo won the shot put while teammate Dakota San Miguel was second in the shot put and discus while the 800m relay team took first overall. Jazlynn Bradshaw also medaled in the high jump and triple jump.
“Our athletes did one heck of a job to win this meet,” DHS Boys’ Track Coach Victor Flores said. “One good thing is we got to compete against every team in our district and we got a good look at every team.
“We have three big meets (Devine, Lytle and Three Rivers) before district and we are getting ready to see lots of good competition. Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and get physically and mentally stronger and start putting everything together by the time we get to the district meet.”

“This was probably one of Dilley’s biggest track meets that we’ve ever hosted in a long time,” Coach Flores said. “Our workers and coaching staff did a fantastic job of making sure the meet turned out to be a success.”
Dilley’s junior varsity boys finished fourth overall while the JV Lady Wolves were eighth out of 14 teams.

Dilley will be off for Spring Break this week but return to action on Wednesday, March 22 at the Warhorse Relays in Devine.
