COTULLA SOFTBALL TEAM ROLLING HEADING INTO DISTRICT PLAY THIS WEEK
Cotulla knocked off Poteet 6-4 and blanked George West 10-0 in their final softball action before opening District 28-3A action this week.
The Cowgirls, ranked 15th in the Texas Girls Coaches Association state poll, hosted Hondo Tuesday evening in their league opener.
Cotulla has won ten of its last 11 games this season and stands 14-3 for the year with its only losses coming to Carrizo Springs, Orange Grove and Jourdanton.
Since dropping an 8-1 decision to the Squaws, the Cowgirls have won five straight and outscored its opponents 53-4 in those outings.
In a shortened Spring Break schedule, Cotulla took on Poteet on Monday, March 13, winning a 6-4 decision. They then took on George West Tuesday, March 14 and rolled to a 10-0 decision.
Although the team has struggled in its three losses, falling 14-0, 14-3 and 8-1, the team has been dominant in its 14 victories, posting nine shutouts among those wins and outscoring its opposition 121-24.
The team played host to Hondo Tuesday evening in their league opener and will be at Lytle this Friday, March 24.
