Dilley finished second overall behind Carrizo Springs in action at the Bulldog Relays in Three Rivers last week.
Dorian Aranda led the way for the Wolves as he took first place in three different events and was second in another. Dilley’s relay teams also finished second and third in the sprint and 800m events.
“We did well overall but we’re still hurting for numbers,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said. “We also had some kids that I put in other events and they performed well for us.”
Aranda finished first in the 100m and 200m events, and also won the long jump. He was second in the triple jump and also helped the sprint relay team. Teammate Esai Lozano also took a gold medal in the 400m dash and was second to Aranda in the 200m dash.
Varsity results are as follows: 800m run, sixth, Xavier Hernandez, 2:18.24; 100m dash, first, Dorian Aranda; 400m dash, first, Esai Lozano, 52.34; 200m dash, first, Dorian Aranda, 22.8, second, Esai Lozano, 22.89; 400m relay, third, Dilley, 46.06; 1,600m run, second, Xavier Hernandez, 5:04.28, third, Brazos Viesca, 5:08.83, third, Anthony Guerra, 5:10.05; 1,600m relay, second, 3:34.58; long jump, first, Dorian Aranda, 22’4″; triple jump, second, Dorian Aranda, 42’8-1/2″.
Dilley’s JV boys were also second at the event.
JV results are as follows: 800m run, first, Pavlo Reyes, 2:23.50, fourth, Julian Castro, 2:27.22, sixth, Harlen Elizondo, 2:34.28; 100m dash, third, Armando Gauna, 11.96; 400m dash, third, Pavlo Reyes, 58.75; 400m relay, first, Dilley; 110m hurdles, second, Angel Martinez; 800m relay, fourth, Dilley; 1,600m relay, fourth, Dilley, 3:57.37; long jump, sixth, Angel Martinez, 14’11”; high jump, first, Harlen Elizondo, 5′.
Dilley was in action at the Lytle track meet on Wednesday, April 5.
