Cristina Martinez
A traffic stop early Saturday morning ended in the arrest of a Crystal City woman and seizure of a methamphetamine cargo.
Frio County deputies are reporting that they were on routine patrol on IH-35 Saturday, April 1, when they carried out a traffic stop of a Ford F-150 pickup truck near Milemarker 100. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Cristina Martinez, was operating the vehicle with an expired registration sticker.
During the roadside interview, Martinez told deputies she was on her way to San Antonio for an appointment but had decided not to go because she was going to be late. The woman allegedly admitted that she was on probation for possession of narcotics and allowed deputies to search her vehicle.
It was during the search of the truck that deputies discovered a bag of methamphetamine in a backpack.
Martinez was transported to the Frio County Jail without further incident and faces a third-degree felony charge for possession of an illegal substance.
“Our deputies spend countless hours patrolling the highways and county roads diligently working to intercept and seize illegal narcotics,” Frio Lt. Joshua Longoria said.
