FRENCH TOAST STICKS FROM BETTER HOMES & GARDERNS AIR FRYER RECIPES, 2023
Air Fryers are the latest kitchen gadget that we all just can’t live without. I mean… we certainly can live without them… but they’re a lot of fun. Try your air fryer out with this French toast recipe!
4 1-inch-thick slices of day-old bread, such as Italian or sourdough, each cut into four 1-inch sticks
2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
Nonstick cooking spray or cooking oil
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
Maple syrup
Raspberries (optional)
- Place bread pieces on a wire rack and let stand for 15 minutes to allow the surface of the bread to dry. In a shallow dish whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Dip bread sticks into egg mixture, turning to coat (let soak in egg mixture 10 seconds per side). Place dipped bread sticks on a tray; let stand for 5 minutes to soak up the egg mixture. Preheat air fryer at 400°F. Lightly coat surface of dipped bread sticks with cooking spray. (If using cooking oil, lightly brush oil on surface of bread sticks.)
- Working in batches, add bread sticks to air-fryer basket. Cook 6 to 8 minutes or until golden, turning once. Keep warm while cooking remaining bread sticks. Drizzle with melted butter and serve with maple syrup and raspberries, if desired.
Makes 4 servings
Bonus: for sugar-cinnamon French toast: Prepare as directed. In a small bowl combine 3 Tbsp. sugar and 1 tsp. ground cinnamon. Dip the warm air-fried toast sticks in ¼ cup melted butter and then in sugar mixture to coat.
