REGIONAL TRACK & FIELD

Dorian Aranda was crowned a five-time area champion, winning all five of his events and is one of 13 Dilley athletes advancing to regional track and field competition this week in Seguin.
Aranda and his teammates finished fourth overall at the area meet in Jourdanton last week, only 30 points shy of Lytle despite competing with only nine male athletes at the event.
“We’re extremely proud of our athletes,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said. “We know we don’t have the numbers of some of these other schools but our kids compete with the best of them.”
Aranda was the District 27 & 28 3A Top Male Scorer with 50 points as he took first in each of his five events, the 100m, 200m, long jump, triple jump and mile relay.
Esai Lozano, Jacob Lopez and Jorge Herrada were also area champions in the mile relay. Lozano was a two-time champion, winning the 400m dash, as well. Juan Garcia III finished fourth overall in the pole vault.
