Raeann Charo is back in familiar territory as she earned a berth at the UIL State Track and Field Meet for a third year in a row.
The Cotulla senior was a wild card qualifier a year ago in the 100m dash with the fastest third place time among all competitors and also earned a berth in the 200m dash. She was fifth and sixth in both events at state. As a sophomore in 2021, she earned a bronze medal in the 100m dash.
Charo was second in both heats of the 100m dash, taking second with a time of 11.97 in prelims on Friday and second with a time of 11.94 in the finals on Saturday at Matador Stadium in Seguin. She was also third in the 200m dash with a time of 27.44 in prelims but improved both her place and time in the finals with a second place finish of 25.18. She qualified for the state meet in both events.
The senior was also seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17’3″.
She will be looking to add to her state medal collection at the meet on Thursday, May 11 as she competes at 6:05 p.m. at the UIL State Track and Field Meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
