Cotulla’s bi-district qualifying baseball team has ten players that have been named to the 28-3A all-district squad this week.
The Cowboys earned the fourth and final playoff berth in 28-3A and dropped a narrow playoff series to the Poth Pirates, falling 4-7, 7-1, 11-4.
Four players were named to the all-district first team while five earned second-team all-district accolades.
Junior first baseman Esteban Alba, senior pitcher Dylan Martinez, junior outfielder Manuel Hernandez and senior shortstop Jesse Sanchez received first-team honors.
Senior second baseman Fidel Yanez, senior third baseman Joseph Salazar, sophomore 0utfielder Alex Medina, senior pitcher Traein Garcia and sophomore catcher Andrew Salazar all earned all-district second team distinction.
Sophomore Eric Aldaco was given honorable mention.
Senior Roberto Ayala, Salazar, Alba, Medina, Yanez, Aldaco and Brandon Rodriguez were also named Academic All-District.
Cotulla was 13-11 overall and 4-6 and fourth in District 28-3A, and earned its first playoff berth since the 2019 season.
