Pearsall’s inaugural girls’ soccer program wrapped up its first-ever season and despite a steep learning curve, the team managed to field seven all-district performers to the 28-4A team.
Playing against veteran soccer programs like Pleasanton and Uvalde, the Lady Mavs squad played a district-only schedule and went 0-12 in their debut season.
Senior Jezzie Leal was named to the all-district first team while Jenevy Gonzales was a second-team selection. Seniors Ebony Garza, Lorena Trevino and Karicia Garcia and juniors Iliana Camacho and Julia Zorzo Ferreria were all given honorable mention.
Trevino was also a first-team Academic All-State honoree while Garza was a second-team Academic All-State selection.
Leal, Zorzo Ferreira, Garza and Trevino were also named to the District 28-4A Academic All-District team, as well.
