PEARSALL BOYS SOCCER
Pearsall’s inaugural boys’ soccer program concluded its first competitive season and despite competing against established and experienced programs in a district-only schedule, the team had three players named to the all-district squad.
“We struggled mightily in our first year in terms of wins and losses, but I came away incredibly proud of the boys for taking on the challenge of building a brand new program,” PHS Soccer Head Coach Danny Aguirre said. “The season was filled with challenges from start to finish, but their dedication to the team made it an honor to be a part of.”
Senior Manuel Celis led the team as he was named first-team all-district. Juniors Abner Martinez-Perales and George Avila were named to the all-district second team.
The Mavericks were 2-10 in their debut season, recording the program’s first-ever victory on February 13 in a 3-2 decision over Poteet. Pearsall finished sixth in their seven-team field with six points for the year.
