Hilaria Gutierrez Padilla, known as “Mom”, 96, and lifelong resident of Pearsall, died on Friday, June 02, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1926 in Adkins, Texas, to Gerardo and Tomasita Gutierrez.
She is preceded in death by her infant son Bruno Jr., her husband Bruno Sr., her parents and all her siblings Marcos, Silvestre, Ascension, Evaristo, Filomena Casillas, Eugenia Coronado, Clemencia Valle and Maria Trinidad Gutierrez.
Hilaria is survived by her son Lupe (Cindy), daughters Norma Galindo, Alice Padilla, Elizabeth Padilla, grandchildren Jennifer Lee, Jacqueline Hillary and Bruno, Hannah, Billie Jean, Ruben, David, and many great-grandchildren.
An avid cook, Hilaria was also a talented gardener and enjoyed word searches and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune! Deeply religious, she also kept a red, time-worn Bible with her.
Pallbearers included Bruno Padilla, Juan Lopez Jr. (Junior), Elias Gutierrez, Captain Eddie Cruz, David J. Padilla, and Ruben P. Trevino Jr. Honorary Pallbearers included Hector M. Lozano and Luis Villanueva.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Services in Pearsall. A chapel service was held on Friday, June 9 at 10 a.m. at Primrose Funeral Services in Pearsall. Interment followed at the Frio County Cemetery.
