A Cotulla man has been charged with drug possession after being found in possession of methamphetamine and cocaine during a traffic stop early Monday, June 19.
A report from the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office indicates Noe Gutierrez, 46, was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy on Montemorelos Street shortly after midnight Monday and that the suspect had bags of narcotics in his lap at the time of the traffic stop.
Deputy Eusebio Garcia reported that he had cause to halt a 1994 Buick sedan and that the driver admitted to having narcotics in the vehicle.
The deputy reported that he saw the bags of narcotics in the driver’s lap and that he searched the vehicle, ultimately discovering three bags of methamphetamine and one bag of cocaine in the Buick.
Gutierrez was traveling with a passenger who has not been identified and who was not detained in connection with the narcotics case.
The suspect was remanded into custody at the La Salle County Jail on second- and third-degree felony charges for narcotics possession. He remained behind bars in lieu of bond Tuesday. His vehicle has been impounded.
