STAND UP AND HOLLER – Members of the Cotulla High School cheerleading squads have been taking part in the UCA Camp this month and have been training in a number of cheers and stunts. The camp continued through Thursday, June 22, when the cheerleaders took part in the CHS Cheer Showcase in the high school gymnasium. Members of the Newman Middle School and Cotulla High School cheerleading squads performed for the public.

RESULTS of the Cheer Camp include a Superior Rating for both the varsity and junior varsity squads. Individual award recipients included Quiana Mendez, varsity captain, Super Senior Spirit Stick, UCA All-American Cheerleader, Pin It Forward; Anadelia Garcia, varsity assistant captain, Incredible Junior Spirit Stick, UCA All-American Cheerleader; Bella Linares, Super Sophomore Spirit Stick, UCA All-American Cheerleader; Victoria Medina, Fabulous Freshman Spirit Stick, Jump Queen, UCA All-American Cheerleader; Alissa Velasquez, Kate Guzman and Jasmyn Galvan, UCA All-American Cheerleaders; Jenessa Gonzalez, Pin it Forward; Mariah Roath, JV captain, Outstanding Effort, Pin It Forward; Hayden Ayala, JV assistant captain, Most Spirit Spirit Stick; Sareen Ramirez, Jump Princess, UCA All-American Cheerleader; and Jesirae Alvarado, Pin It Forward.
Varsity cheerleaders named All-American are able to attend the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii, or the London New Year’s Day Parade in London, England. The JV cheerleader who was named All-American is able to attend the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, or the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Cotulla High School cheer coaches are Marlene Costley-Maldonado and Bobbie Jo Gonzalez.
