The driver of a northbound freight truck on IH-35 was trapped in his cab for at least two hours on Monday, July 10, after he lost control of the vehicle near Artesia Wells and caused it to flip and crash at the edge of the interstate at Milemarker 57, ten miles south of Cotulla. Emergency responders from the La Salle Fire Rescue deployed the Jaws of Life to cut open the freighter’s crushed cab and extract the injured man, who was then transported by helicopter from the scene to urgent medical care in San Antonio. The case is being investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol, whose troopers were assisted at the scene and in traffic control by the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office. (Courtesy photo)
