The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office has recovered a quantity of methamphetamine from a man who was charged earlier this year with breaking into a Cotulla residence and stealing a number of valuables.
A Cotulla man who was charged in March with burglary of a home in the 900 block of Tilden Street has been remanded into custody and faces bond revocation after he was found in possession of methamphetamine last week.
Jose Enrique Rodriguez, 62, had been released on bond after his arrest earlier this year and was found walking near Cotulla Cemetery on Thursday evening, July 6, carrying what the sheriff’s office is describing as a substantial quantity of narcotics.
Deputy Victor Alvarado noted in a report on the case that he identified Rodriguez and spoke with him at length shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, adding that he became suspicious of the man’s activities during the encounter and found cause to search him.
Rodriguez was remanded into custody on a second-degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 after the search revealed a bag of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Rodriguez remained behind bars on Monday last week.
